MSI 8800GT 512MB OC upgrade from Sapphire ATI X850XT...

Strengths: This video plays every game thrown at it without any hassle. It does 3D rendering well and there are no stutters in games that ran decently on old-gen cards.

Weakness: Does not playback encoded video (DiVX, .mkv, etc.) as quick as my ATI X850XT that I am upgrading from. Also, strange driver incompatibilities that don't allow for double-clicking to .mkv full-screen.

Upgrading from an ATI X850XT -- not a huge performance difference between the two, but is still visible. The price difference between the cards (~$100) is not justifiable, but since the former lacks SM2.0, the upgrade is a must for next-gen gaming. I want to say that the 8800GT is a very fitting upgrade for my computing and entertainment needs; however, the weaknesses (the slow rendering of encoded/compressed video and other driver inconsistencies) really make owning the card a headache at times. I do enjoy the video card and intend to keep it; however, do try the driver software/interface since there is a chance if incompatibility with your system (which can come from motherboard-video card PCI-Express 2.0 inferface, operating system, or even just oversights by nVidia's forceware). Also be wary of the new tech (9600GT or 9800GT) that is coming out before deciding to buy this, as the price/performance ratio may not be the best now.

Best card for the money! no contest

Strengths: This card is the best 8800gt available, hands down. It is next to silent, and extremely fast. You won't find a better 8800gt for the money.

Weakness: the minor problem that many other people have talked about was the plastic fan guard hitting the fan. All you have to do is move it away from the fan a very small amount and you'll be good to go.

This 8800gt uses a zalman designed cooler, and not only does it enable for some extreme overclocking, but it does that all while keeping it cool and silent. I can't even hear the card over my 3 case fans. You can't go wrong with this card. All your games will run buttery smooth if you pair this up with a nice core 2 duo.

Blazingly Fast, Amazingly Cool

Strengths: Amazing Performance, Midrange Price, Aftermarket Cooler, Factory Overclocked

Weakness: Dual Slot Occupancy

This is by far the best valued high range card out there being factory overclocked to 675 Mhz with 112 Stream processors this rivals $400 8800 GTX cards at almost half the price. To make it even more worthwhile, this has an aftermarket cooler which makes this run very quiet - even more so than my previous GeForce 6800!

Best Bang for the Buck

Strengths: Runs anything I throw at it with perfection

Weakness: NONE SO FAR

This is by far the best graphics card you can purchase for its price range. It runs pretty much any game that you could possibly want to play and then some more. I would recommend this card to any hardcore gamers out there.

Great Card

Strengths: Fast,Fast, Cheap

Weakness: none that I have found

This card is probably the best deal going! Better than some of the newer cards, and cheaper. You can get two of these, for a steal, and get screaming graphics!!!!! The best buy out there!

Best of both worlds

Strengths: Very effective cooling solution, low noise, high quality

Weakness: none

Like most, I am hesitant when people say they have overclocked their video-cards and have noticed an improvement in performance. As it turns out there is only a small performance increase and you have just voided your warranty and have decreased the life of your card. Not with this one, the card comes factory overclocked and the cooling solution has been raised so that the life of your card is the same or even better as the stock cards.

Great card!!!

Strengths: Fast, runs cool (Max 53C Fan 29%), silent.

Weakness: It's a little heavy.

I was considering on getting a 9600gt but opted to spend $30 more for the real thing. Zalman cooler is amazing. Now I can run FSX in max details @ 17FPS avg. Works great overclocked @ 700/1000.

Great value

Strengths: Very cool and quiet heat sinker.

Weakness: Only 3 year warranty

Added this in my new Inspiron 530 desktop. The thing is very quiet with the special cooler. You will get a regular cooler with other 8800gt cards which is either hot or noisy. Have not yet test the performance but according to some reviews it is faster than the new 9600gt cards. Sure you can get a better 9800gt cards but the price will be doubled. The only draw-back of the card is the warranty. XFX or evga offers life time warranty while this one has only 3-year warranty. But you might want replace it with a new one within 3 years.

MSI 8800GT review

Strengths: Best price/performance GPU, good cooler, factory OC

Weakness: Can be loud, heavy

8800GT best price/performance GPU for gamers. Excellent quad pipe cooling with factory overclock, but can be noisy. Runs modern games like COD4 and Unreal Tournament 2007 at high settings on 1600 x 1200. Close to 8800GTX at less than half the price. Highly recommended.

MSI 8800GT OC - A great value

Strengths: Very fast. Very cool and quiet with Zalman VF1050 cooler. Stylish. The best priced GT8800 on the market!!!

Weakness: Dual slot design. Not completely silent (good enough for me but others might not think so). Not FREE.

This card was a great value at $178.98 shipped after all rebates and coupons from Chiefvalue. It is stylish and the included Zalman cooler keeps the card in the low 50's (Celcius) under full load. 3DMark06 over 10k on an E6300 board with only a PCIe 4X slot and expect more on a X16 slot. The card is nearly silent using the Zalman VF1050 heatsink with 75mm fan that is PWM controlled.

Great card and great price!!!

Best 8800GT Bang for the Buck!

Strengths: coming from a bfg 7900gs.. WOW the performance difference is amazing! especially when playing from 1680x1050+. now i can put everything on max! it's also very quiet as the fan is large and efficient.

Weakness: dual slotted but it's minor as it's needed for the cooler (read below)

Comes with a massive cooler that keeps this card cool! way cool! a separate cooler could run another 30+ dollars and buying this overclocked version eliminates the need for one! Thus why i call it the best bang for the buck! :D 5 stars all the way.
