pricey plastic

Strengths: Does it job.

Weakness: Over price for a simple plastic. The connector is based on 3 pins on camera; these pins can be easily bend.

I have been using EOS since the 620 film days. Some of their gear is over priced. This is one! It works with film cameras: EOS-3, 1V HS/1V and digital cameras: EOS 1D, 1Ds, 1D Mark II, 10D, 20D, D30, D60 and D2000. For almost $50, it should had been a wireless remote! Check out the new Mac, the connector of their power connection is done with magnetic. That won't bust the connecting pin as this...

as good as expected.

Strengths: works great. easy to use.

Weakness: price... and even though they sell cable extensions, this cable could be a little longer

Great for Macro and telephoto shots. Use it to beat camera shake! And even though they sell cable extensions, this cable could be a little longer especially for the price!

Canon RS-80N3

Strengths: Works

Weakness: Overpriced

It works, of course, but I don't understand why a 3-way switch and a terminal with cable would cost $50. The build quality is good. Feels comfortable in the hand.

Must have but way too expensive

Strengths: Does the job

Weakness: switch sometimes get stuck, very expensive

If you want to do night photography or capture anything that requires a long exposure (waterfall, canyons, etc...) this is a must have. Unfortunatly is way overpriced for what it does.

RS-80N3 Remote Switch (for EOS 20D)

Strengths: Prevents camera shake for long exposures, zoom or macrophotography

Weakness: Expensive!

I am using this with an EOS 20D for long exposures with the camera mounted on a tripod for low-light/night photography. This remote switch does the job well, and has a shutter-release lock too. It allows half pressing just like the shutter button, useful when auto focusing. The length is comfortable and the remote is a good size for the hand, light and easy to carry. I wonder why it is still so...

Canon Remote Switch RS-80N3 for EOS 1V, 1V-HS & EOS...

Strengths: Great for any situation where a slow shutter speed is necessary, reduces the chance for camera shake.

Excellent product. I use it in my wedding photography business and it has helped a great deal in situations where I have encountered low-lighting and a slower shutter speed was necessary. It also allows me to get my eye out of the viewfinder so that I can evaluate the entire scene. This is helpful in being able to see if a person is going to move between the camera and my subject just as I'm...

Canon Remote Switch RS-80N3 for EOS 1V, 1V-HS & EOS...

Strengths: Longer than 1 sec exposure, you will see the difference between using this remote switch and without. Lighter and easy to carry and use.

Weakness: Still cannot get it why this thing is so expensive(but less compared to its more sophisticated brothers).

I bought this because I wanted to get maximum quality pictures with my gears. It happens that we have to do longer exposure under low light or we just want to get more depth of field by stopping down the aperture. I was tempted to buy more advanced ones or the wireless, but finally I asked myself whether I just a switch or other functions. If not, then it does not make sense to waste money. So,...

Not as good

Strengths: Firm connection

Weakness: Poor button

I purchased this shutter controller for canon 30D. The connection is firm with the camera, but it takes a while to figure out the correction oritentation. However, the button is really poor. It feels like pressing cotton, could not figure out the difference of half press and whole press. I could not say it is a good remote controller. Considering it cost more than 400 to obtain a wireless...

Nice staff bur pricy

Strengths: Solve the unstable issue and good made

Weakness: Price is high

Yes, it comes from Canon and qualtiy is good. But it is pricey and you only can control the camera 0.8m away. I took soem picture in house and I can find some improvement than before.

Canon Remote Switch RS-80N3

Strengths: The remote switch is well made.

Weakness: None

The remote switch works very well and prevents camera shake when shooting macros and time exposures. The half position release is a nice feature that allows time for the auto focusing and lets you double check the exposure settings. The size and shape of the handle is ideal. It is easy to operate the 3 way switch with your thumb.
